Shachella D. James

The Professional
Shachella James is a "compass" who interfaces with senior business executives, technical teams, and operational end-users, making sure no one strays from "due North".  She is a recognized visionary who drives high impact projects for strategic and mission critical applications.  Shachella is also a magnet who draws out issues and expertly facilitates discussion and negotiation -- until expectations are properly set and commitments are attained!

Throughout her career in information technology, consulting, utilities and telecommunications, Shachella has successfully headed endeavors that required re-architecting applications, data structures, and infrastructure.  Shachella is an accomplished and certified technology professional, having earned her undergraduate degree in Management Information Systems from Texas A&M University and her Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas @ Austin.  She earned her Project Management Professional (PMP) certification through the Project Management Institute (PMI).  To these accolades, Shachella adds the honor of being recognized as one of Houston's 2006 Top Women in Technology, Who's Who in Black Houston for 2010 and 2011 WBEA Nominee for Buyer of the Year for her support of supplier diversity and women owned business enterprises.

The Author
Shachella has been a "scribbler" for over a decade, but just recently made the leap from "dreamer" to "doer", in terms of writing!  Shachella's opinions on software development and project management have been published in online trade journals and as lectures for the courses that she has taught.  Her appreciation for diversity and foray into children's literature were actually realized during international programs and various travel experiences. Those travel experiences coupled with an inquisitive three year old daughter inspired and gave life to both Big Sister and Smokey via Sentarse Means Sit.

The Enthusiast
Along with Shachella's interests in writing, you'll find her participating as a room mom and volunteer in public (VIP) schools, coordinating team events as a YMCA soccer coach for her son and running half-marathons.  Shachella is also a proud member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

If you would not be forgotten as soon as you are dead and rotten, either write something worth reading or do things worth the writing.  -- Benjamin Franklin
